This project envisions a kinetic outdoor sculpture in Urbana, Illinois built from retired bicycles andinspired by the city’s strong cycling culture. The work would transform once-used materials into a living structure of motion and energy. Designed to be interactive, viewers would become participants — turning pedals, engaging gears, and setting the sculpture in motion, physically connecting with the rhythm and spirit of our biking community.

My Journey
of creating beauty and inspiring sustainability
Rooted in theatrical design, my practice explores transformation, illusion, and material memory. Through Upcycle ARTworks, I construct dimensional wall works from salvaged and discarded objects, elevating remnants of everyday life into immersive visual compositions. Created in my Urbana studio, the work reflects an ongoing dialogue between sustainability, storytelling, and the beauty of reclamation.
What Drives Me
I am drawn to the quiet poetry of discarded things — weathered surfaces, forgotten objects, remnants carrying unseen stories. Influenced by the language of theatrical design, I compose reclaimed materials into richly layered works that evoke movement, atmosphere, and transformation. At Upcycle ARTworks, each piece becomes an act of renewal: a conversation between art, sustainability, and community. From my studio in Urbana, I seek to create work that not only reimagines waste, but inspires others to see possibility, connection, and beauty where they least expect it.
